‘Nenek moyang kaya raya jangan sesekali digadai harta bendanya’
This is our original settlement in early 1950’s, my grandma Umi Kathom Tajuddin or Tok Som Kayap (she was known for helping people in Tanjung Tokong with her traditional medicine mostly kayap) were holding my uncle, Ishak Ahmad, or Ramlie at that time. She was migrated from Balik Pulau and marriage with my late grandpa, Haji Ahmad Saad/Md. Noor or Pak Aji Mad Tamah (what they used to call) and he was an originality Tanjung Tokong native. The land was originally belonging to the British for ‘Penempatan Baru’ and was promised that the site will be given to our native. But the truth is, it was given to UDA after Malaya’s independence. Now the house in the picture or what they call ‘Rumah Padang’ was no longer belong to us but the memory will still be remained.
